His background is unclear.  His past is murky.  His accomplishments, though many, are unimportant.  What matters is this:  At some point in recent history he uncovered the knowledge of the Shadow Beat Ritual somewhere in the Northern California wilderness, and it left him changed forever. Having the SBR has made him immune to the infection yet he still has scars from attacks to always remind him.  His mission now is simple: Translate the instincts, ambitions, and desires of the working-class into song form.  Does he succeed?  Take a listen and judge for yourself.

The BEAST – Drums / Production

He is the heartbeat of the tribe.  He powers the ritual with an aggression that threatens to explode at any moment.  Masquerading as a human was never a choice for him.  He is governed by a different set of laws, and we suggest that you respect them.  Do not tamper or interfere with him.  In his world, there are no victims – only prey.  How did it begin?  The chaotic and turbulent nature of adolescence had almost claimed another life.  Voices were raised.  Fists were clenched.  A drum kit was beaten with an ancient rage.  It bounced back.  It asked for more.  The thunderous pulse opened a doorway to another world.  A boy died.  A Beast was born.

Since ancient times, it has been known that the Muse is the inspiration and the source of the artist’s knowledge. The Shadow Dolls are no exception. Their existence is said to predate the Shadow Beat Ritual itself. They have been known to haunt the dreams of artists since pre-history. When you are creative and compassionate, they will give you music. When you are filled with hate, they will dismember you. The Shadow Dolls are the embodiment of this process.

What We Suspect
  • A pattern of recent events suggests that we may be experiencing a reappearance of the Shadow Beat Ritual phenomenon.
  • The Shadow Beat Ritual has manifested itself throughout history whenever human beings have faced a deep crisis.
  • Not much is known about the details of the Shadow Beat Ritual, but it is widely agreed upon that the ritual makes use of music, magic, and will power to achieve staggering victories over repressive forces.
  • The knowledge of the Shadow Beat Ritual is believed to be off limits to the powerful, the greedy, and those with evil in their hearts.
What we know
  • It is told that three young Cherokee warriors, powered by the SBR, used nothing but war drums to wipe out over 1,000 soldiers of the 17th regiment in South Carolina, thus saving their village from destruction.
  • It is believed that in 14th century Japan, a group of peasant farmers, strengthened by the SBR, used taiko drums to repel an attack by Lord Ishiwara’s elite ninja guard.
  • It is thought that in 1987, a group of girls from the Northern Thailand hill tribes used the SBR and chanting to annihilate a group of kidnappers, thus saving themselves from a life of forced prostitution.
What we can expect
  • Symbols translated from the SBR Manuscript (713 A.D.) point to present day Northern California as the starting point for the next cycle of Shadow Beat influence.
